They're the boys from Germany who can induce screaming in teenage girls and in copy editors alike. They're former winners of the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist. They have sold millions of albums in their home country, the United States and across the rest of the world. And they're back. Today, MTV News exclusively premiered the first snipped of Tokio Hotel's new single "Automatic," which comes from their highly-anticipated new album Humanoid. Based on the portion of the new song, the album — which hopes to follow-up on the stunning success of their breakout hit Scream — will likely be a departure for the group and venture into larger, more complex songs.
But we've already weighed in on "Automatic," so now it's your turn. We hit the streets outside the MTV News offices in New York City's Times Square to play the snippet for some people (including a handful of people eager to get into the studio audience for today's episode of "It's On with Alexa Chung") and get their opinions on the new tune.
The results may be fantastically unscientific, but Tokio Hotel should be very pleased nonetheless: A full 71 percent of the people we polled gave the new song the thumbs up. In fact, many people expressed their endorsement in spite of themselves, saying that they don't normally listen to that type of music but could see themselves cranking up "Automatic."
What do you think: Is Tokio Hotel's "Automatic" a winner or a waste? Leave your thoughts in the comments below or head on over to Your.MTV.com and make your voice heard!
