Bill & Co. le their fans stand in the cold

Yesterday Tokio Hotel played in front of 10,000 fans in Geneva. The cheers of their supporters were huge, the reluctance of the stars, too.
At 19.30 o clock you can hear the first sounds in the Geneva Arena. 10.000 fans screech as Tokio Hotel are playing hits like "Scream" or "Ready, Set, Go!". Tokio Hotel deliver a professional show - but the heart and soul is missing.
The four boys from Magdeburg (D) keep distance from the audience. No hand clapping for the thousands of fans in the arena, not even for the eagerly stretched hands. In particular, girls swarm Bill does not seem to have enough distance between himself and the fans. The biggest part of the concert, he sings at an intermediate stage behind the drums.
The quartet managed to do what no other German band succeeded in: They conquered the world. With "Schrei" (2005), their first German Album, entered the french Top 20 Charts. In the U.S. e English version climbed up to rank 39 of the Billboard charts, even in Canada the album ranked on place 6 of the charts. 60 million francs, Tokio Hotel earned since their debut in 2005. Long mocked and dismissed as a temporary phenomenon, they are unreachable for superstars.
Tokio Hotel always stood for authenticity. They are not casted, they are an artificial band, wo found themselves together and play since their early childhood instruments. In most of the band itself written texts, they sing about teenage problems, love, grief suicidal thoughts to the divorce of their parents.
That arrives. Like Bills look. Despite bullying about his style, he was never swayed. It is his style: He got his first piercing when he was tewelve, shortly followed by the first tattoos. With the growing succes, the hair got longer too(His styling tip: "Every day a can of hair spray and never wash the hair."), Thick Eyeliner and unusual nail polish.
"More and more" seems to be the motto that the band got used to. Tokio Hotel are no 'touchable' band anymore. They are Scots. "They do not even autograph hours or posing with fans for photos," complains Andrea (16) from Olten SO.
Even days before yesterday's concert good hundred teenagers camped on the pavement, just to be the first in the concert hall. "I haven't seen such things since Michael Jackson or Pink Floyd played here 20 years ago!," says concert organizer Michael Drieberg.
But the times in which fans were standing in front the hotels in which the boys are sleeping over night are over. "They now are staying as far away from the concert hall, some in other places, so that they can not be bothered by us," laments Manuela (14) from Berne. The distancing from the fans is not the only consequence of success: In March Bill had to be operated because of a cyst on the vocal cords, the tour got cancelled and the dates resheduled.
Also Polo Hofer (63) and Marc Dietrich (59) Peter, Sue & Marc had to make this operation, after they cast their votes during decades overused. Bill is 40 years younger.
